The Band

The Monkees are a four-person band who appear in an American television series of the same name. The Monkees formed in 1965 in Los Angeles, California and even today, still go down as the most successful TV rock show idea ever. That was how they came about, as an idea for a TV show moulded after the Beatles movie, A Hard Days' Night. A TV show about four poor hippie band members with lots of slapstick comedy, and of course, music too.The group turned into a real band and had a whole bunch of big hits, world wide!. These hits are heard on radio stations — including 'I'm a Believer', '(I'm Not Your) Steppin' Stone', 'Daydream Believer', 'Last Train to Clarksville' — and even a number of social criticism songs, the best known of which is probably 'Pleasant Valley Sunday'. The band have produced six albums (four of which went to Number 1 on the Billboard chart), which was supplemented by a series of successful world stadium tours!
